HOW TO REGISTER GST FOR NEW COMPANY IN MALAYSIA

Under the GST Act Malaysia, companies with business exchanges more than RM500, 000 per annum need to enlist for GST. This is under obligatory GST enrollment classification. Required Information for GST Registration
• Company & Business’ information’s: Company Business Contact Information, Name
• Your Financial Account information’s: Your financial year end, turnover of breakdown to standard rate supplies, with export.
• Your industry codes (MSIC Code)
• Your bank account information
• Your softcopy of Bank Statement
• Proceed to https://gst.customs.gov.my/TAP/_/ tap register for GST
• Read registration details, this will guide the taxpayer using tap to register the application.
• Tap the next to continue the next step
• Choose your type of Business.
• Fill the following,
• The yellow text boxes indicating mandatory
• The green text boxes indicate optionally
• And the white text boxes indicating uneditable
• Click next to continue once the page is filled in
• The mandatory fields are specific to the chosen type of
• Choose Yes & No in Agent Registration
• The contact Information will track applicant’s email, phone, and tap login
• You click next to continue to the next step
• The business detail tab is the screen that requires your business financial and accounting
• Ensure you fill in all required information:
• The total rate should be 100%.
• The total taxable supplies will be auto-calculated based on total turnover with rates entered by the
• The expected date to exceed threshold will be auto-populated when the total taxable amount is greater than RM500, 000.
• Click the next button to continue to the next field.
• The look up Industry Code button there is used to search for the MSIC Click the lookup Industry Code button.
• Type keyword in the green field and the list of related result will display
• Click on the code hyperlink to select and click the Select button to confirm the code
• Selected the industry code and ensure to add code hyperlink in order to add multiple codes at the same time.
• But if the taxpayer already knows the MSIC code, click the Add Code tab to add
• At least just one industry code needs to be added
• Select next to continue
• Bank Information tab will require business bank
• Fill in all that is required
• And click next to continue to the next
• The Designated Person section will need director information.
• Add not less than one person as a designation
• You need to click next button to continue
• Fill in all required field
• Applicant checkbox needs to be checked, where the designated person is identified as an applicant, the applicant need to be a contact person for Customs.
• Next click Add
• Change the nationality field by selecting from drop-down list if the director is not Malaysian citizens and while the Passport will be the mandatory field.
• You then lickc Next to continue
• The next screen will require the applicant to review the application details and verify
• Then click submit to forward your application
• Then fill in your email and confirm email using the same email address in the contact information details (refer to step 10) to submit the registration. Click ok.
• Next screen will display the confirmation information as
• Tap print acknowledgment receipt button to print the acknowledgment receipt.
• Tap print acknowledgment receipt for your records or tap ok to go back to the homepage.
